Do You Need an Attorney for a Bail Hearing in Dallas?

In Dallas and the surrounding areas they have magistrate judges to help assist in setting bail bonds. Because of this bail bonds are set pretty quickly, usually within 12 hours. Bail hearings do not necessarily need to take place in the Dallas area. It is only necessary when the bond needs to be set. Well, in Dallas County and the surroundings Denton, Colin, Tarrant, it’s pretty quick. They have what’s called magistrate judges, and so bail bonds are usually set pretty quickly and so you’re going to typically have a bond set within 12 hours here. Typically bond hearings aren’t necessary here in Dallas, the only time that they’re necessary is if no bond has been set. And so what we do at that point is we will contact the district attorney’s office and the judge and we try to get a very quick hearing to get a bond set. Or if it was a cash only bond, meaning you got to pay the full amount of the bond, we want to get it converted to, it’s what’s called a surety bond it’s a type of bond that you can only pay a fraction of or that you just pay a fraction of, like we were talking about.
