In Dallas and the surrounding areas, it’s fairly often that when people are stopped they only have a small amount of marijuana with them. In many cases, it may just be a blunt in the ashtray or a baggie with a small amount of residue in it.
When the police officer is going through your car or searching you, they may discover this small amount.
In Texas, any amount will be at least a Class B misdemeanor. Larger amounts of pot can mean more trouble. For example more than 2 ounces is a Class A misdemeanor and more than 4 ounces is a felony that could land you in jail for up to two years.
